Specific measures for improving sustainability

Heavydrive lowers emissions with green electricity and eco-friendly installation solutions

Digital technology, decarbonisation and the circular economy were key topics at glasstec 2024 in Düsseldorf. The Tapfheim-based lifting and transport specialist Heavydrive has also set clear goals in these areas to make its business processes and installation solutions even more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Consistent reduction of emissions

Heavydrive is putting in place measures aimed specifically at promoting decarbonisation. The photovoltaic system on the roof of the administration building and warehouse in Tapfheim supplies the company's machine fleet with green electricity. The batteries in the installation equipment are also charged with green electricity.

Since being founded in 2006, Heavydrive has consistently developed innovative technologies such as emission-free battery-powered installation equipment. "As a company, we consider it our duty to continuously reduce emissions. However, customer demand for environmentally friendly installation solutions is also on the rise", explains Günter Übelacker, Managing Director of Heavydrive. There are also strict exhaust and noise regulations to be met, particularly in the area of indoor installation. This is why Heavydrive is constantly expanding its wide range of electric and battery-powered suction systems, cranes and lifts.

Intelligent circular economy

Tapfheim-based installation specialist has a slogan – "Repair over replacement". Heavydrive has a workshop where its own and third-party equipment is maintained, tested and repaired. The installation and lifting systems are modular, which means that they can be expanded and used in a variety of ways. And the component parts can also be easily interchanged and replaced. Professional, regular maintenance also extends the lifecycle of the systems. "We want to develop durable equipment capable of achieving as many processes as possible on the construction site. This makes installation more efficient and reduces the number of systems required," explains Günter Übelacker.

Digitisation at all levels

Some 90 per cent of business processes at Heavydrive are digitised. This means that the entire order processing procedure, from receipt and equipment selection to loading, is fully digital. This saves a lot of paper, and it also simplifies the arrangements and speeds up the processes. "Our numerous digital services also make communication with customers more efficient," explains Günter Übelacker. "We can solve many problems or queries immediately via video chat without having to send an expert to the construction site." The digital customer services include the Heavydrive app in German, English, French and Russian, the Heavydrive equipment finder and video advice on the 3D model.
