Numerous international visitors on the Heavydrive stand at BAU 2025

Great interest in sustainable installation solutions and glass installation robots

Despite the challenging economic situation, some 2,230 exhibitors presented their latest developments at BAU 2025 in Munich. Heavydrive also showcased its innovative and sustainable installation solutions for all types of glass elements.

The extended 3D model on a scale of 1:25 took centre stage at stand 130 in hall C5. The Heavydrive experts simulated various construction site situations, from the installation of inclined or curved panes, the placement of extremely large glass elements using counterweight beams and the installation of prefabricated window modules.

"Visitors showed a huge interest in our solutions for setting oversized, specially moulded and coated glass elements", says Günter Übelacker, Managing Director of Heavydrive. Heavydrive develops customised installation systems that are optimally adapted to the construction site situation.

The robotic units such as the Heavydrive 7-axis manipulator for glass elements weighing up to 2000 kg and the GMG glass installation robots with a load capacity of up to 1000 kg were also very well received. With the GMG glass robots, a single operator can suction on, transport and place a pane with millimetre precision using radio remote control. To assemble prefabricated components like lift-and-slide elements or complete windows with frames, Heavydrive showcased specialized systems such as the fork adapter, designed to effortlessly pick up and position heavy elements made from various materials. Many visitors were also interested in the various emission-free and low-noise cranes, suction systems and installation aids, which can be used flexibly both indoors and outdoors.

Advancing digitalisation was also evident at the Heavydrive stand. The era of visitors carrying brochures around is over. All trade fair materials and contact details could be easily downloaded via QR code. The company presented videos of installation work on international construction projects on three large screens. That said, there were still plenty of one-on-one conversations.

"Even in times of digitalisation, face-to-face communication is incredibly important,", says Günter Übelacker. "As the world's leading trade fair in the industry, BAU offers a unique opportunity for this, as it brings together experts from all over the world and enables direct dialogue on international trends and projects."

Over 180,000 people visited the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems in Munich from 13 to 17 January 2025. Some 44 per cent of visitors had travelled to BAU from abroad - more than ever before. The international flavour was also evident at the Heavydrive stand. A huge large number of visitors came from Australia, Belarus, America, Canada, Croatia and the United Arab Emirates.
