Installation of security screens for G7 summit in Elmau
The highest level security was in place for the meeting of the heads of state and government of the G7 countries from 26 to 28 June 2022 in Elmau, Bavaria. On behalf of Fischer Sicherheitssysteme GmbH, Heavydrive installed bulletproof glass measuring 1,000 by 2,000 millimetres. The 280 kilogram glass elements had to be transported from one side of Elmau Castle to the other and then installed on a balcony.
The glass was transported through the building by the Heavydrive HD 700 glass transport trolley and the GMG 350 glass assembly device. The HD 700 glass trolley has an extremely slender design, and so just one person can move the load through narrow passages and behind scaffolding. The transport frame can be flexibly adapted to the size of the panes. The Power-Grip hand suction system guarantees a secure hold of the glass elements. In this way, the bulletproof panes could be safely transported through the Elmau Castle Hotel to the work site.
The mini crawler crane MRK 158.0 S, in combination with the vacuum suction system VSG 450 KS, lifted the glass panes onto the balcony. The mini crane has a heavy-duty tip that can be extended to four metres. The mini crawler crane also has a 3-axis overhead manipulator. This enables transport even under projections, overhangs and behind angled scaffolding. A single operator can control the compact assembly crane by radio remote control.
On the balcony, the panes were set with the aid of the GMG 350 glass robot. Here, too, just one operator was needed to accurately install the safety glass in the opening. The job required the highest levels of reliability, precision and punctuality. Within three days, all the safety glass was set without any problems or delays. To cover any possible incidents, the glass assembly device GMG remained on site during the meeting of the state guests. Once the summit had concluded, Heavydrive removed the bulletproof panes again.
