High-class façade engineering
Heavydrive GmbH montiert im Rekordtempo die Fassade des Düsseldorfer Apple Stores
Futuristic and unique – this is the concept behind Apple Stores worldwide. And Apple's new store in the Kö-Bogen building in Düsseldorf is no exception.
In December 2013, the largest Apple Store in North Rhine-Westphalia opened its doors at a prime pricey business location. Everything was right on schedule thanks to the reliable support of Heavydrive GmbH.
The salesroom of the Apple Store has a high ceiling and is flooded with light. The façade is made of 16 800-kg-heavy curved panes arranged in two rows, one above the other. An additional difficulty: The installation of the glass window panes was not to affect the normal service of the tram that runs directly in front of the store. Heavydrive had the solution: The mobile and flexibleMRK 158.0 mini crane in combination with the VSG 1200 KR vacuum suction system for curved and angled panes.
The perfect solution to any problem
To allow even more light into the room, the original panes inserted by the façade engineering company Lindner were replaced by even larger panes measuring 10 metres in height and 2.5 metres in width. These are the largest panes currently installed in a commercial building. The versatile assembly crane masters this challenge reliably and precisely. Thanks to the MRK's reach of up to 16 metres, the panes can be installed vertically or horizontally without interruption. This enabled the experienced crane operator from the Donauwoerth-based company to complete the entire façade in only three night shifts from 10pm to 3am.
The unusual shape of the convex and concave panes was no problem for the innovative Heavydrive VSG suction system. The perfect assembly equipment for any construction job– Heavydrive GmbH proved this once again in Düsseldorf, ensuring that the project was completed to plan.
