What will the cities of the future look like, and what technologies will make them possible?
This question was the focus of the networking event "Egypt & Bavaria – Building Smart Cities Together", held on 13 October 2025 at the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria. Representatives of leading Egyptian construction and real estate companies met with innovative companies from Bavaria, including Heavydrive GmbH. The event was opened by Franz Xaver Peteranderl, President of the Chamber of Crafts, who emphasised the importance of international cooperation and the contribution of innovation to the cities of the future.
Organisation was handled by Bayern International in cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria. The aim of the initiative is to promote bilateral exchange between Bavaria and Egypt in the field of modern urban development and to help Bavarian companies tap into international markets. The focus was on topics such as sustainable construction, resource efficiency and digitalisation. Key areas in which Heavydrive can provide decisive impetus with its solutions for the modern construction process.
As a specialist in heavy-duty lifting technology and glass installation, the company presented innovative solutions to an international audience that enable even large-scale glass and façade elements to be moved precisely, safely and efficiently.
Günter Übelacker, Managing Director at Heavydrive is thrilled with the response: "The keen interest shown by the Egyptian delegation demonstrated how much demand there is for efficient and sustainable installation technology. The guests were particularly impressed by how we tailor our work to specific customer requirements and by the complex glass installations that can be achieved with our equipment." The focus was on low-emission drive technologies and digitally supported logistics processes, which significantly simplify the installation process on modern construction sites and conserve resources. The networking event opens up new prospects for Heavydrive for cooperation in future smart city initiatives in North Africa.
