Pane installation at the Porsche Design Tower in Stuttgart

The new Porsche Centre with a 90 metre high Design Tower is taking shape at the Pragsattel in Stuttgart. The glazing, commissioned by a façade construction company from Kirchberg (Rhineland-Palatinate), was carried out using the Heavydrive MRK 168 and MRK 86.0 mini cranes with assembly tip and the VSG 450 K and VSG 750 K vacuum suction systems. The 1.5 metre long and 1.2 to 3 metre high façade panes weighed 250 to 660 kilograms.

The Heavydrive crawler crane MRK 168 has a load capacity of up to 3.8 tonnes and a hook height of 16.8 metres. Using the assembly tip, operators can raise loads up to three metres below balconies, projections and other overhangs. The mini crane can be powered both electrically and bx diesel and features non-marking chains. This makes the assembly device suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Once construction of the Porsche building complex is complete, the approximately 5,500 square metres of the lower eight floors will serve as office space for Porsche Consulting GmbH. A Radisson Blu Hotel is being built on the upper floors. Completion is scheduled for 2022.
