Heavydrive works on famous museums in the USA
Heavydrive GmbH was involved in an anniversary project for the Corning Museum – the largest glass museum in the USA. A four-month long Glass Barge tour has been organised to celebrate the Erie Canal Bicentennial and to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the glass company’s canal boat journey from Brooklyn to Corning – a relocation that placed Corning on the map as an important glass production location. Heavydrive installed panes weighing 1.7 tonnes for the mobile glass blowing specialists.
Heavydrive also fitted 9m long panes of safety glass in the Glenstone Museum in Washington, D.C. The museum was opened in 2006 and displays an extensive collection of glass, various contemporary art exhibitions, live demonstrations and information on the science and technology of glass. The museum seamlessly integrates art, architecture and landscape into a serene and contemplative environment. The VSG 2500 K vacuum suction system with a lifting capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes was used to fit six panes each weighing 2.4 tonnes.
